Paris Chases Digital Future, First Woman Mayor Says

Paris has recovered from the terror killings of almost six months ago and is counting on technology industries to drive growth, Anne Hidalgo, the French capital’s mayor, said in an interview.
“Right after the attacks there was quite a significant decrease in tourist visits, because many people were afraid of traveling,” Hidalgo said in her office at City Hall. “I think it’s over. Hotels are fully booked, many great events are going on right now. Activity is back.”
The January murders of 17 people at a satirical magazine and a kosher grocery by a radicalized trio catapulted Paris onto the front pages of newspapers around the world, and led the French government to mobilize 10,000 soldiers to guard vulnerable sites around the country.
Tourist arrivals in January dropped 9 percent from a year earlier, the steepest decline in 10 years.
